Special Report: OCP progresses on new 4m tpa P fertilizer capacity; Rock slurry pipeline poised for service

February 21st, 2014 by Chris Yearsley / CEO, Head of Nitrogen

Morocco: During an industry conference this week in Morocco, OCP has showcased its progress towards adding four new 1 million tpa DAP, MAP, NP/NPK units - and the common infrastructure to support them – at Jorf Lasfar. The photo below shows construction progress to early 2014 on Unit 1, which is due for commissioning in Q3 2014. The remaining 3 units are due to be commissioned in stages through to end 2015.

Clearly visible in the Unit 1 shot below, each unit will have 2 x 100,000t finished product storage capacity.

Rock slurry pipeline from Khouribga enters the Jorf complex into the slurry holding facility. The pipeline is currently in commissioning, and is due to start operations next month. With a 40 million tpa rock throughput capacity, the pipeline is built to handle all of OCP’s current and future mine output at Khouribga. This means rock rail shipments to Casablanca will shortly cease, sharply reducing rock logistics costs. Rock slurry pipeline from Khouribga enters the Jorf complex into the slurry holding facility.
