Construction to begin on Koch Nitrogen’s $1.3 billion Oklahoma nitrogen expansion

August 6, 2014Leave a commentGeneral, Nitrogen

North America: Koch Nitrogen has announced that construction will begin in September on its urea and ammonia expansion project at Enid, Oklahoma. Expected to last 18-24 months, construction of the $1.3 billion project will deliver a 900,000 short ton-per-year urea plant, alongside efficiency improvements and capacity expansions to existing ammonia units.

The existing facility was built in 1974 and purchased by Koch in 2003. The current capacity of the facility is put at 1.1 million st/y of ammonia, 0.5 million st/y of urea and 90,000 st/y of UAN. The additional urea production will require just over 0.5m. st/year of extra ammonia.

The project will also include the delivery of added capability to produce high-purity urea to serve the DEF market, construction of supporting logistics infrastructure and 90,000 short tons of urea storage capacity.

In our most recent long term forecast for urea, published earlier this year, Profercy had included a 900,000 st/y urea capacity expansion at Enid, Oklahoma.
