Nutrien announces curtailment of Trinidad ammonia plant

September 23, 2020Leave a commentGeneral, Nitrogen

Nutrien this week issued a press statement regarding its operations in Trinidad.

‘Nutrien has announced it is indefinitely curtailing one of its four ammonia plants in Trinidad in response to weak market conditions. This change will result in a 15% workforce reduction effective October 30, 2020.

Two of the ammonia plants and the associated urea facility will continue to operate at maximum capacity.  The site will continue to operate its remaining ammonia and urea assets to meet customer’s needs.

Nutrien expects these changes will enable the facility to operate more efficiently, competitively and sustainably into the future and is committed to satisfy all existing supplier contractual agreements.‘

Analysis of the latest developments and the impact on the global ammonia market is available via the Profercy Nitrogen Service.
